A new survey by Francisco Gavidia University reveals that while Salvadorans support President Nayib Bukele’s leadership, few are embracing Bitcoin. Though Bukele made Bitcoin legal tender in 2021, only 7.5% of Salvadorans reported using it for transactions, with 92% opting out. Furthermore, just 1.3% believe Bitcoin should shape the nation’s future. Despite efforts to boost adoption, including plans for a Bitcoin City, usage remains low. However, Bukele’s strict crackdown on gangs has received high praise, with 58% of respondents feeling the country is on the right track, despite some criticism from human rights groups
