Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried has been denied his appeal to be released from jail ahead of his trial by a US Court of Appeals. Bankman-Fried’s attorneys had requested temporary release from jail to review documents ahead of his Oct. 3 trial. However, the appeals court denied the request saying that “there was probable cause to believe that the Defendant-Appellant attempted to tamper with two witnesses in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1512(b).” Bankman-Fried is facing over 100 years in prison for fraud charges, including allegations that he used billions of customer assets to make his own failed investments.
