The President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, and Prince Filip of Serbia announced the creation of a Bitcoin business hub in the region to encourage innovation. Speaking at Bitcoin Amsterdam 2023, Prince Filip praised the region’s decision to embrace Bitcoin, calling it a “technology for the future.” The Madeiran president said the region was changing its economic base to include high-tech, artificial intelligence, and bitcoin. Madeira previously announced that BTC investors would pay no personal income taxes in the region. In addition, a delegation of Bitcoiners visited the island earlier this year to discuss Bitcoin with President Albuquerque.
