Tether has announced that its long-time CTO, Paolo Ardoino, will become the company’s new CEO in December. Ardoino will succeed current CEO Jean-Louis van der Velde, who will transition to an advisory role. Tether has stated that it aims to become a “tech-centric organization” and envisions reshaping the future of finance by becoming an infrastructure partner in developing “resilient” cities. Ardoino joined Bitfinex in 2014 and Tether in 2017. Tether will remain focused on its growth while expanding its horizons by venturing into new business lines, such as energy production and bitcoin mining.
