BBVA Switzerland has announced that it will use Metaco’s Harmonize platform for its crypto custody operations with institutional investors. The move comes after BBVA Switzerland migrated its infrastructure to Harmonize to achieve greater agility and security in transaction validation and crypto asset custody. Harmonize, which was launched by Metaco in 2021, allows BBVA Switzerland to connect to blockchains beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, potentially expanding its crypto services. Metaco’s partnerships with major legacy financial institutions include DZ Bank, Societe Generale, and UnionBank. The partnership between BBVA and Metaco began in 2021 when Metaco helped BBVA Switzerland launch crypto custody and trading services for individual clients. This makes BBVA Switzerland the first tier-1 bank in the eurozone to provide such services.
