A criminal on the dark web is selling access to Binance’s law enforcement request panel for $10,000 in cryptocurrency. The panel, provided by a third-party service called Kodex, allows for lawful access to account data. The bad actor claims to have gained access through compromised email accounts belonging to law enforcement officials, a common vulnerability in these systems. This trend of hackers targeting and compromising the email accounts of police departments and government agencies has become increasingly common, as reported by security consultant and journalist Brian Krebs in 2022.
