Microsoft India’s Twitter account, with over 211K followers, was hacked by scammers to promote a fake GameStop crypto pre-sale. The scammers posted videos of Roaring Kitty, linking it to an unverified site claiming to offer a GME crypto presale. Experts suggested that the breach could result from a SIM-swapping attack, a common method to bypass two-factor authentication. The phishing site was designed to steal assets from anyone connecting their crypto wallets and authorizing transactions. Further, multiple bot accounts retweeted the hijacked posts which amplified their reach trapping more victims.
